The main window isn't showing
It's probably in the system tray (near your clock).
Besides that you might be missing Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4 64 bit, it's required for some API's we use.
I'm getting a virus warning, halp!
This is a false-positive that I can't really fix without signing Artemis. Signing an application costs over $180 per year which I simply cannot afford to spend on a hobby project, sorry!
The reason this happens is because Artemis does so much things to give you reactive lighting, like responding to key presses to show type-lighting (no key presses are ever saved/logged) and monitoring window names etc. (again, nothing is logged, it's all open-source if you want to confirm ;) )
If you want to be sure, upload Artemis to VirusTotal or a similar website, you'll see that only very few virus scanners give the false positive: https://www.virustotal.com/file/916173dda13a95c56e34a34fb94f7a403de405d544fdd5f1839425eeccf4ab54/analysis/1510686630/ https://www.virustotal.com/file/235e9ad902db500b4e063a223354caa85c826e3e51808c69ab131be509404a72/analysis/1510686808/
If you are having issues please whitelist the installation folder and main executable
C:\Program Files\Artemis
C:\Program Files\Artemis\Artemis.exe
What does this program do?
Artemis has two modes of operation.
- Create effects on RGB keyboards that visualize audio or key presses.
- Provide 3rd party support for several games, displaying certain in game values on your keyboard.
Something doesn't seem to be working right, what should I do?
If you're running into any issues please create a new issue on GitHub. If you're getting an error message, please copy it to your clipboard and include it. Any details/screenshots will help as well.
How does the program know what's happening ingame, isn't this like cheating?
For online games, the way we read in game values is generally by means provided by the game developers, with the exception of Rocket League (although I've used it for over a year and nothing happened). So it can't be considered cheating.
For offline games it doesn't matter, so we just use whatever is easiest for that game (mods, memory reading etc.)
Can the program disable itself when I'm not in any of the supported games?
Yes, just disable all the regular effects. Do note that overlays like Volume Display won't work either.
Can I request support for a new game?
Of course, just make an issue on GitHub. However, do keep in mind that the game should have a way for us to read what's going on (League of Legends, for example, does not.) For single-player games this isn't as much of an issue.
Also, we have to have access to the game.
Profiles
The key press layer type doesn't always work
This can happen in certain applications that try to fight applications tracking keys, like Firefox.
Please not that Artemis doesn't log keys but it needs to watch key presses to know what you're pressing.
Devices
Logitech support does not work
Try installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) version 11.0.61030.0 https://download.microsoft.com/download/1/6/B/16B06F60-3B20-4FF2-B699-5E9B7962F9AE/VSU_4/vcredist_x64.exe

The Witcher module says I have a conflicting mod, what should I do?
Please read the instructions over here
What does the Generic device type do?
Generic devices are devices over which Artemis only has limited control. This includes most Logitech RGB gear because their SDK is very limited. You can create a generic layer and Artemis will colour all the generic devices according to that one layer.
